Industrialists in the North

-The slave states were a major producer of all sorts for raw materials, from cotton to coal


-The people who managed factories or sewing houses were afraid that by losing slaves in the fields, there line of work would be in ruin as costs would spike and quantity would decrease


-Some northerns, because of this threat, were pro-slavery


- On top of this people, in north were afraid that slaves were going to take their jobs in these factories
