Dred Scott Case

Missouri Compromise of 1820

-an agreement between pro-slavery and anti-slavery faction which prohibited slavery in the former Louisiana Territory above 30' 36", except within the state of Missouri

- This compromise created free and slave states which split the country in half and turned the north against the south.

-Later the Dred Scott case abolished this act and the free and slave state line was erased. The case did this because it claimed that slaves were property, and you could have your property anywhere in the U.S including the free states.
